- In article <4gia4r$c61@vixen.cso.uiuc.edu>, barthele@ux1.cso.uiuc.edu says...

- >: >>I belive Commodore gave their permission for the version 1.3 (and below)
- ROM
- >: >>image to be distributed freely, for use with downgraders. Am I right?
- >: >
- >: >You are not right.
-
-
- And how do you know that I'm not right? Then I could be sure what you were
- saying was reliable or not....
-
-
- >: Are you sure? I remember (vaguley) reading in Amiga Format or CU Amiga,
- AGES
- >: AGO, that using the 1.3 ROM for degrading (or something) was ok - it might
- >: have been Commodore UK who originally said so?

- >: this to affect Amiga1200/4000s..... ;) Perhaps someone should find-out
- from
- >: Amiga Technologies what their stance is? I've got no idea what address &
- >: who to ask is.
- >
- >Come now, you've got access to usenet...you've got access to magazines...
- >how is it that you don't know?
-
-
- "Usenet"? I may have access to the internet, but nobody ever TOLD us what
- things were available!! I only found how to access here without clumsy
- Netscape when I noticed someone else using something with similar names to the
- newsgroups I had seen.
-
- If you mean IRC (regarding Usenet), then that isn`t available on the
- university network (although almost everything else is) - I managed to find a
- decent IRC program for the PC eventually (Mirc), but have only used it a few
- times since & so am not very familiar with all the terms yet.... Or found
- occasion to use constructively.
-
-
- Admittadly I've never looked hard, but where would you find AT's address?
- Especially as they've moved (to Germany)!
-
-
- >: Can you still BUY a kickstart 1.3 rom? Seems unlikely.. If so, what do
- they
- >: cost?
-
- >Once again...you've got access to the magazines...if you don't know that
- >1.3 ROM's are still being sold, it's only because you're too lazy to look.
-
- Come on! I didn`t feel like a 50 minute walk just to change 1 line in my
- reply!!!!! Not that I expect you to know that ;)
-
-
- Just incase you missed the query - from what source are you so sure that C=
- didn`t give any permission? I may have been remembering that CU Amiga was
- given permission by C= (UK?) to put the 1.3 ROM on they're coverdisk. They
- DID put it on, along with ReloKick, ages ago. I remember that they were
- questioned about the legalities of doing so, but can`t remember what they said
- (in the letters page).
-
- Anyway, any chance that you won`t bit my head of next time? I'm not all
- knowing, unlike you! ;^)
